Privacy Policy
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Josef Dave Reyes Llorente (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the iOS application DNS Checker (the “App”).
The App provides on-device DNS diagnostic tools. Features may include single-domain lookups (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, and related record types), reverse DNS lookup, in-session results that clear when you quit or clear the session, share-sheet export of results you choose to share, and optional Pro tools such as additional record types, custom DNS resolvers, DNS propagation checks against public resolvers, raw dig-style output, DNSSEC status indicators, batch lookup, and a Share Sheet extension to open a lookup from a domain or URL. Optional Pro features may be unlocked via a one-time Apple In-App Purchase.
No user account or login is required. The App does not operate developer-owned backend servers, cloud sync, or a developer-owned database for user content. Lookups are sent only to the DNS resolver you use (system default or a resolver you enter for the session). Nothing you look up is designed to be stored, synced, or sent to the developer.
Information We Collect
What we do not collect. We do not collect personal information through developer-operated servers for analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking. The App does not include third-party advertising, analytics, or crash SDKs beyond what may be provided by Apple as part of iOS and the App Store. We do not sell personal data. We do not offer social features, user accounts, cloud sync, or developer-side storage of domains, IPs, or DNS query results.
What may be processed on your device or by Apple.
- Domain names, IP addresses, and related query parameters you enter are processed locally and sent only to the DNS resolver performing the lookup (system resolver or a custom resolver you specify for the session).
- DNS responses are held in memory for the current session for on-screen display, copy, and optional share-sheet export; they are not designed to persist across app launches via UserDefaults, Core Data, CloudKit, or file storage.
- Session preferences (for example resolver choice or raw-output toggle) are held in memory for the current session and are not designed to persist across app launches.
- If you use the system share sheet, shared content goes only to destinations you choose (for example Mail, Notes, or Files); the App does not re-read that export afterward.
- In-app purchases are processed by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy and terms.
We do not receive DNS query or result uploads to developer servers; the App has no developer-operated servers for that purpose.
Network / DNS Queries
DNS lookups necessarily contact a DNS resolver on the network. As designed:
- Queries go to the system default resolver or to a custom resolver you enter for the session
- Propagation checks may query multiple public resolvers in parallel for side-by-side comparison
- Query content is not uploaded to the developer
- The App does not operate a proxy, logging API, or developer-owned DNS service
Resolvers you contact (including public DNS providers) process queries under their own policies. That processing is outside the developer’s control.
Purchases (Apple)
Optional Pro features may be unlocked through a one-time In-App Purchase via Apple StoreKit. Purchases and restores are processed by Apple. We do not operate a separate payment processor for the App.

How Information Is Used
On-device DNS query and display logic is used solely to provide App functionality (lookups, reverse lookup, propagation comparison, export, and related controls). Session data is used only while the App is open.
We do not use domains, IPs, or DNS results for advertising, tracking across apps or websites, or building developer-side user profiles, because that data is not sent to developer servers.
Data Sharing / Selling
We do not sell personal data.
We do not share DNS query content with third parties through developer-operated transmission, because the App does not upload that data to developer servers. Queries are sent only to the DNS resolvers involved in a lookup you initiate.
Apple may process information related to App Store distribution and In-App Purchases under Apple’s policies. This App does not use third-party advertising identifiers for ads.
Data Retention
Because lookup data is processed for real-time on-device diagnostics and is not uploaded to developer servers, we do not retain that data on developer systems.
In-session results and preferences reset when the App is closed or when you clear the session, as designed. Purchase records associated with your Apple ID are retained by Apple according to Apple’s practices; we do not operate a separate purchase database for the App.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children and does not require account creation. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through developer-operated servers.
If you have concerns, contact us at josefdave.llorente@gmail.com. Given the App’s design (no developer backend for user content), device-local access is generally addressed by removing the App.
International Users
The App processes lookup input and responses on the device where the App is installed, and contacts DNS resolvers as needed for those lookups. We do not operate developer servers that receive that data. Apple may process App Store and purchase-related data as described in Apple’s privacy materials.
This policy does not assert specific GDPR legal bases, data-protection officer appointments, or EU representative details.
Your Choices
- Clear session: Use in-app controls to clear in-session results without quitting.
- Share sheet: Export is optional and only occurs when you explicitly share.
- Purchases / restore: Manage and restore eligible purchases through Apple’s In-App Purchase / App Store mechanisms.
- Deletion: Delete the App to remove it from your device, subject to how iOS manages app data.
